Downtown Louisville is a vibrant destination with plenty of great things to do throughout the year. Each season comes with its own unique events, activities, and annual festivals, offering visitors new and exciting ways to experience the Bluegrass State.
Here are just a few of Louisville’s top upcoming fall and winter festivals:
10/4 – 28 (Select Dates) | Louisville Zoo | 5.3 Miles
Halloween at Louisville Zoo offers a delightful (not frightful) family-friendly experience, featuring colorful storybook settings, princesses, superheroes, and the legendary Headless Horseman. Wander down the yellow brick road to the Land of Oz, go on a magical ride aboard the Boo Choo-Choo Train, ride the Spooktacular Carousel and more.
10/5 – 7 | Historic Old Louisville – St. James Court | 1.9 Miles
Held among the country’s largest collection of Victorian homes, this celebrated art show has been a time-honored fall tradition for over 62 years. The three-day event features 17 artistic mediums and original works of art crafted by over 700 artists.
10/9 – 11/4 | Iroquois Park | 7.9 Mile
Nightly, visitors can see 5,000 illuminated pumpkins lined along a quarter-mile walking trail at the scenic Iroquois Park, just outside downtown Louisville. Named by MSN as one of the “10 Best Places to Celebrate Halloween in America,” this family-friendly event is also an art show— pumpkins are expertly carved and arrayed in themed scenes, with music to enhance the overall experience.
10/11 – 13 | Muhammad Ali Center | 0.7 Mile
Each year, Louisville’s International Festival of Film screens dozens of independent films from around the world at various locations in Louisville. Now in its 10th year, this three-day event celebrates the next generation of film making, offering educational workshops, Red Carpet interviewing, and networking opportunities.
10/12 & 13 | Historic Old Louisville – Oak St & Garvin Place | 1.6 Miles
Louisville’s largest street music festival is celebrating its 23rd year with two days of live entertainment, arts and crafts, food trucks, and drink vendors.
The crafts area is nestled in a lovely tree-lined cul-de-sac on a block of gorgeous 1880-90’s Victorian homes. Peruse over 50 craft booths, listen to local and national blues performers, and enjoy delicious food and drink offerings.
11/9 – 11 | Louisville Slugger Field | 0.7 Mile
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas with the annual Festival of Trees & Lights, held at Louisville Slugger Field in downtown. See hundreds of artfully decorated trees and wreaths, shop holiday décor, catch a glimpse of Santa, and enjoy family-friendly entertainment and activities.
11/23 | Downtown Louisville | Walking Distance
Held annually the day after Thanksgiving, Light Up Louisville signals the official starting point of the most wonderful time of year. The event has been a Louisville tradition for 38 years and features a full day of excitement and seasonal festivities.
See a procession of bands, carolers, and floats as they march along the streets in the Light Up Louisville Parade. Then, Santa arrives to light up the city with glowing holiday cheer.
