Waterfront Park in Louisville, KY is brimming with unique experiences and sights to see! This open-space green park is situated along the popular Louisville waterfront. Get some fresh air (and maybe a little wet) as you enjoy these top park attractions and more:
Big Four Bridge This 1895-built, decommissioned railroad bridge links Louisville, Kentucky to Jeffersonville, Indiana. It’s now open to pedestrians for a two-state, two-mile roundtrip stroll. When the sun drops below the horizon, enjoy a colorful rainbow display of effects of the bridge’s LED light system each evening until 1 am.
Belle of Louisville All aboard! Experience history with a ride on the hundred-year-old Belle of Louisville. It’s America’s last true Mississippi River steamboat in operation and a national historic landmark. Check the event calendar to see when you can take a late 19th century style trip on the Ohio River!
Water Feature/Dancing Waters Feel the Zen with this stream of cascading pools and waterfalls. Start at the top at Dancing Waters, where a ground-level, shooting-water jet system will cool you off in no time. Follow the water down to the Ohio River, stopping to sit and listen to the soothing sounds of the flowing water or cross over one or more of the pedestrian bridges where you can see the water below your feet. You won’t want to miss this!
Lincoln Memorial A tree-lined amphitheater surrounds a 12-foot bronze statue of Lincoln, seated on a rock overlooking the river. Pay homage at this majestic scene which also features four bas-reliefs depicting Lincoln’s Kentucky ties and four of his famous quotes engraved in the granite face of the amphitheater seating.
Flock of Finns Keep your phone or camera handy for plenty of photo opportunities at the Flock of Finns! This bright, colorful gathering of 28 metal bird sculptures stand larger than life and are based on the work of late Louisville folk artist Martin Finn.
Swing Garden When it’s time for a break, have a seat of your choice on old-Southern style swings. Sway your troubles away, surrounded by the scenic sights of the park and the Louisville waterfront.
