Louisville Music Festivals Near Marriott Louisville

Summertime Jams: The Best of Louisville Music Festivals

Besides horse racing, Americana-style beauty, and some of the world’s finest distilleries and southern food, Kentucky is also known for its bounty of music festivals. Louisville, in particular, is famous for its enjoyable summer music events which are popular with both locals and visitors alike. Visiting Louisville during the sunny, relaxing summer months is not complete without checking out at least one of its best music festivals. Here is a rundown of what to look out for at each event.

Forecastle Festival

Forecastle Festival, a wildly well-attended event that takes place every July at Waterfront Park, was rated one of the top 101 things to do in the country by SPIN Magazine. With such a big claim to fame, Forecastle does not disappoint. The festival features plenty of activists and artists amongst the musical lineups.

What to expect: plenty of bourbon, sweat and a family-friendly musical event.

The Kentucky Bluegrass and Bourbon Experience

This event takes place each September, typically over the two days of Labor Day weekend, at the Louisville Water Tower Park. The live bluegrass offerings are authentic and diverse, as is the array of good, old-fashioned barbecue and other eats that are available. Bourbon, of course, features heavily as the drink of choice to wash everything down. There is also a bourbon tasting lounge, a craft vendor market and many menu options to delight festival goers.

What to expect: the triple crown combination of music, booze and food, and an experience you will never forget.

Also taking place over Labor Day weekend, but with a distinctly different vibe, is WorldFest, a four-day affair at the downtown Belvedere that does justice to its name by celebrating international cultures from all over the globe. Culture, education, food, music and dance all go into making WorldFest a totally unique and different experience from other music festivals.

What to expect: a global village, an international parade as well as sights, sounds and tastes from nearly 100 different countries.

NuLu Fest

Happening each September, NuLu Fest celebrates local by bringing together the community of the NuLu area and beyond to dance, eat, shop and socialize in the revitalized district. Local vendors at Nulu Fest provide artisanal food and microbrewed beers for festival goers to enjoy while listening to live music on the streets.

What to expect: a neighborhood block party beyond compare, complete with modern-classic Louisville food and beverages.
